Overview：
Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., LTD. (Baosteel Co., LTD.) is the largest and most modern steel conglomerate in China. With its integrity, talent, innovation, management, technology, and other comprehensive advantages, Baosteel has established its position as a world-class steel conglomerate in the international steel market. In addition, in terms of environmental protection, Baosteel spares no effort and strives to do its best. Therefore, we have recently cooperated with Baosteel again.
The second steel mill of Baoshan Base of Baosteel is located in Baoshan District, Shanghai. In order to achieve the ultra-low emission requirements of the national environmental protection policy, Baosteel has created ultra-low emissions and carried out the technical transformation of the existing converter equipment. This is the part we’re involved in, the vaporization cooling flue downstream of the converter.
In 2023, we provided the technical transformation of the vaporization cooling flue for the 6# converter of Baoshan No. 2 Steel Plant, including the design, manufacturing, monitoring and commissioning of the on-site system.
The Approach
Baoshan Base of Baosteel shares has a long history; it began operating as early as the 1980s. Therefore, many of the designs of different steel mills in Baosteel come from different countries, enterprises, and design institutes. In fact, we and Voestalpine completed the original design of this project in 2007-2008. Today, the renovation requires very detailed up-front work.
Challenges
It is worth noting that the plant transformed by the equipment of this project already has some history. In the past, the design space utilization was very limited, coupled with some new equipment added over the years. So the challenge was to get the equipment in place as perfectly as possible. To this end, we arranged a professional after-sales service engineer to provide very detailed guidance on the site, and finally successfully completed the needs of the owner’s site.
Results
The owner is very satisfied with our full support for this project. At present, there are still many converters in the Baoshan base to be reformed, and the owner also said that we will have more cooperation opportunities.
